About the Artist
Raised on a small farm near Beatrice, Nebraska, I developed a deep appreciation for animals, nature, and rural life at an early age. Our family farm was home to chickens, pigs, cows, a shetland pony, kittens, and a faithful farm dog. Those early experiences fostered a lifelong connection to the natural world that continues to inspire my artwork today.
After relocating to Arizona, in 1996, I found new inspiration in the beauty of the Mogollon Rim, towering Ponderosa pines, mountain trails, wildlife, and the ever-changing colors of the high desert landscape. Whether painting a forest path, a favorite horse, or a cherished family pet, I strive to capture not only what I see, but also the feeling and spirit of the subject.
I am especially drawn to watercolor because of its luminous qualities, spontaneity, and ability to create both delicate details and expressive washes of color. Watercolor invites a partnership between artist and medium, often producing beautiful and unexpected results that bring a painting to life.
As an educator, I have always valued creativity, observation, and lifelong learning. My teaching background has influenced my artistic journey by encouraging patience, curiosity, and a willingness to continually grow and explore new techniques.
My artistic philosophy is simple: every painting should tell a story and create an emotional connection. Whether inspired by the forests of Arizona, the beauty of wildlife, or memories of rural life, I hope my artwork invites viewers to pause, reflect, and appreciate the wonder found in everyday moments.
My original watercolor paintings and commissioned works are displayed through my website, local exhibitions, community events, and private collections. I am honored whenever a piece finds a home where it can be enjoyed for years to come.
